The backstory of Heavyweight Armor's creator

Inspiration can come from many places, but for Heavyweight Armor's creator, it came from faith and the desire to create something for The Heavyweight himself, Jesus Christ. Heavyweight Armor's creator, Latifah, has a truly inspiring backstory. Growing up with limited resources and opportunities, Latifah learned to make the most of what she had. Despite challenges, Latifah was a bright and creative child, always dreaming up ideas and finding ways to bring her visions to life.

As she grew older, Latifah realized the many talents and skills God had blessed her with. She started doing hair, makeup, writing scripts, editing, decorating, costume design, etc. However, it wasn't until she discovered her unique relationship with God and her strong desire to please him at any cost that she truly found her calling.

Always having desired a clothing line, Latifah realized that she could combine her love for fashion and design with her faith by creating clothing that would not only look great but also inspire and uplift those who wore it. Heavyweight Armor is an extension of Latifah’s Faith-based podcast called Heavyweight: The Weigh In where she shares encouraging and uplifting messages.

The inspiration behind Heavyweight Armor's designs is deeply rooted in the creator's faith and personal journey. For example, the color’s in the brand signature collection represent each stage of our journey to purpose. Heavyweight Armor is inspired by the Bible verse Matthew 16:24-25, which talks about being a disciple of Jesus Christ, taking up our cross, and following him.

Latifah’s personal journey also plays a role in the brand's designs. After overcoming many obstacles in life and leaning heavily on her faith, she wanted to create a brand that reflected her journey and could inspire others who may be going through similar struggles. Each design is meant to be a reminder of strength, perseverance, and hope. The colors in the Heavyweight logo represent specifically, Preparation (black), Process (red), and Elevation (white).
